I really want to be tan?

i want to be really tan but spray tans turn me orange and tanning booths cause cancer and its the middle of the winter so i cant use the sun what do i do? i tried nuetrogena sunless tanning creme but it doesnt last and it washed right off. it also smells really bad. does anyone know what i can use?
